This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

Catherine Mueller Hesch Suess--1880 to 1956

Yes, I posted this picture before, but this time, I wanna focus on Catherine, or as my dad knew her, "aunt Ket". John was "medium" build, according to his WWI draft card, so Ket had to be tiny. 5'2"?

(This one was posted before, too, but be patient--I'm setting up a...SET, ok?)

Here, it's 1932, 7 years since John died, 5 years since since she remarried Andrew Suess, and 2 years since her daughter Agnes married Andrews' son Joseph. The baby is their daughter, Joan.

I LOVE this picture! They were dressed up for... someone's wedding, I'd guess. Probably one of her kids, cuz she's wearing the corsage...lol

(She sounds like a pretty special person...evidently, if you lived too far from Buckman for the school bus to pick you up, you stayed with Ket during the week, i.e., Joan Suess and Aunt Jeanette (Marshik) Janson, to name two).
