This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

Full Circle

ANOTHER stunning find from Larry--and a double amazement for folks from Buckman:

The front says it's a picture of the 200 acre John Schmolke farm near Buckman....and the back is a note to his cousin Andrew, from Frank Suess who was....Joe's brother.

Note: Early photographs were often printed as postcards cuz why else would you want a picture, except to SHARE with friends and relatives?

Incredibly, this postcard is STILL around 98 years after it was sent and forgotten about. You can buy it back, online, for $10.00 from this site: POSTALHISTORY.COM

WHAT are the chances....that one postcard, from the millions that have been sent in the last hundred years, would be one we'd care about?

And, how to thank Larry for his stunning research know-how?

Whew!!

...............
(Later: Sue clarified: Frank was the oldest child of Andrew and Elizabeth Suess. He was born in Dec 1892. When his mom died, Andrew Suess married Ket (John Hesch's widow).

We think the card from Frank was written to his 'cousin' Andrew Haala, in Hinkley, Minnesota. Andrew would have been the son of Kets' husbands' first wifes' sister, Helen. COOL!)
