This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

Research during the Christmas 2009 Snowstorm

There's a website called ARCHIVE.ORG where digitized copies of many college yearbooks are preserved and searchable.  Larry discovered that the University of Minnesota is well represented there. All the yearbooks have really undistinguishable URLs, so we have Larry to thank for
 figuring out which ones are Minnesota.

These next pages are from 1943 (same pages that appear if you click the link, above).  It's pretty amazing to realize how much research was going on at the U to further the WWII war effort.

 Something significant to our family was the study of sulfa drugs--mom's only sister died of rhumatic fever in 1938 "the year before they discovered sulfa drugs, which would have saved Loretta"....
