This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

More from Luxembourg 1848

Here's the birth record of Peter and Angelique's first son, John Peter Sandt.  Yes, he was almost 9 months premature, but he survived and emmigrated with his parents and 3 sibs about 1856-57.  They eventually settled in LeSauk township, Minnesota (Now, Sartell), where six more sibs were born.

Translating these records, we've become aware of the influence France, Belgium and Germany had/has on Luxembourg.  The name "Angelique" is French, "Stoltz" sounds German, and the Mohimonts evidently came from Belgium.  Were the SANDTs always from Luxembourg?

    Interesting document. I've noticed the same national influences.

    My Lenertz ancestors came from Luxembourg to Minnesota as well, I just haven't been as successful crossing the pond just yet.
