This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

"Comes the dawn"!

Flipping thru those recently scanned photos again... It's a real advantage to see them enlarged on the screen here, because the originals are so small. This way, details show up!

This photo was certainly taken the day Lois was baptized in 1947...the kneeling woman is Marie Wintermeyer, and Gramma Lizzy Hesch is behind her in the hat and white apron.  Irene Kulig is farther back, between the cars.  The house is the Janson farm house, and the drama in the pic concerns the little boy, who'd been sitting on that potty only moments before.   Mom wrote on the back that "the little boy wouldn't stay on the potty long enough to take a picture" ☺.
