This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

Genealogical FUN!

Oh, MAN...yesterday was such FUN!  The bus ride alone was amazing, cuz I met Anon and we talked BUCKMAN for probably 60 miles ☺.  Then, later, Sue stopped by while we were in the library looking thru photos, and Julie met me for lunch with a stack of more pictures!  I briefly met Dorain, a family historian I NEED to sit down with, and the Little Falls people were connections galore...lol   The Minnesota History Center is beautifully arranged for research, even tho the microfilm room was crowded.  Once you get the hang of it (how to find the right reel, how to view it, and how to copy what you find), it's a series of thrills, honest.  It was a truly delightful day!

This photo was one Julie brought along...it's Joe and Aggie (Hesch) Suess on their wedding day.  We have just the two of them posted here already, but this pic is COOLEST for me because DAD was their groomsman.  He was 18...isn't that neat? (He's the one behind Joe, BTW).

YAY!! Sue just emailed this info:
Bridesmaids were Mrs Kotchever of St. Cloud and Miss Adella Braun of Buckman Ms. Kotchever's gown was lavender and Ms. Braun’s gown was yellow.
The best men were Michael Hesch and Herman Mueller.

THANK YOU to
Morrison County Historical Society,
Minnesota Historical Society,
  JULIE....
And Sue!!
