This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

Oberschlagles pics

Remember the tiny Bohemian village of Oberschlagles where Johann & Marya Hesch lived before they left for America?  The Czech name for it is Horni Lhota, and recently, our good friend Heinz Binder drove thru the area to get pictures of how it looks now.  Isn't that COOL?
We've found documentation that various Hesch families lived at #1, #2, #11, #18,  #23 and #24, at different times between 1750 and 1850.  Great grandfather Paul was born at #2, and his father, Johann, was born at #24.  I'm not sure which Hesch family lived at #18, but here's the house as it is today.

And, here's Heinz, in front of the factory that was built where another Hesch lived, in Ottenschlag ☺
Vielen Dank, Heinz!
