This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

The 1947 Morrison County Fair

My mother detested a certain kind of music because of the Morrison County Fair in the summer of 1947.  If you're familiar with how Little Falls was set up in those years, you know that the fair grounds were just east of St Gabriels Hospital.  Mom was there having Lois, and the smell of fried food and the incessant carnival music right outside her open window nearly drove her nuts, she said...lol  CLICK HERE for a sample.

(Not to worry--the fairgrounds have moved east of town, and the hospital has air conditioning now ☺)
