This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

Yay! Another possible connection in Austria

The green marker on the map is Elbeteinitz, Bohemia, or (present day) Tynec nad Labem, Czech Republic.  The red circle is the area our folks came from, and "Wien", below to the right, is Vienna, Austria, where our newest connection wrote from yesterday.  Cool, huh?
His name's Gerald, and he left comments on THIS POST . He says his family has roots in Elbeteinitz, east of Prague.  This needs more research!

Oh, Gerald--here are two pages from Bohmen census books from the 1650s...a local professor copied them from books held by a Bergunland library in St Paul, Minnesota...do they make sense to you?

These are copies of handwritten lists, of course, but the name HESCH is there.
