This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

Finding fun stuff when you're not looking for it

These two COOL maps were found in JULIUS CANN'S  OFFICIAL THEATRICAL GUIDE (1905-1906 edition, posted about on October 1st).  Why is this a big deal to me?  Cuz back when Larry and I were writing about the diary dad's uncle Math kept on his trip to Europe in 1914, we looked and looked for railroad maps current at the time.  We finally found what we needed, but didn't think to look in such an obscure place, even if we'd known about it at the time.  That's the thrill of paging thru old publications--what else can be found there besides what it says on the cover??
