This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

Christmas 1971

Good grief!  Little Josh was just over a month old here.  Incredible that this was 39 years ago already, and that someone gave us ANOTHER harvest gold fondue pot to add to the three we already owned from the wedding. (Did anyone actually use those pots?)
Just look at all the albums in the rack next to the stereo.  I think we actually played them fairly often, especially since there was almost no TV reception on the prairie west of Buckman then, and MPR didn't reach there either.
I do remember standing by the stereo while I was pregnant, base booming, humming along and tapping my tummy.  Must be why Josh has such a good sense of rhythm and musicality  now, huh? ☺
