This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

A great idea for an epic historical novel

There must be a budding writer in the extended family, or someone from Buckman or Pierz township, who could effectively write the story that played out over Catholic and public schools between 1888 and 1955 in Pierz.  No, it wasn't JUST Pierz, but that's where it was most intense and most divisive.
Bombs were set.  People were excommunicated.  Families were divided (possibly even Heschs).
The problem went on for so long and so many were embroiled in it, that it must have seemed like a way of life eventually.

Whoever writes this novel will need to do one helluva lotta research, but what an interesting book it'll be.
