This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

Rosie and Eddie's wedding--June, 1948

Rose Hesch and Ed Janish
on their wedding day, 19 June 1948

Hesch sisters: Katie, Rosie and Fronie
It's hard to say which aunt and uncle are favorites, but these two come pretty darn close.  They lucked out by being my godparents 13 months later, so that helps.

If you've followed the blog, we questioned when and where some of these pics were taken, but when you see them all together, there's no doubt that day was the 19th of June, 1948.

On the church steps:  Groom's sister Irene Janish, Bride's sister in law, Linda Hesch,  the newlyweds Rose and Ed Janish, and the bride's brother Mike Hesch.  Not shown was another brother of the bride, Henry.

Irene, Linda, Rosie & Eddie, Mike and Henry Hesch
I think the farm was the Janish farm in North Prairie, cuz I don't recognize the buildings as being the Hesch place in Royalton.  (If I'm wrong, leave it in the comments, and I'll change it).

Henry and Tony Hesch, two of the bride's brothers
The men of the wedding party: Henry, Eddie, Mike

Mike, flirting with Aunt Rosie's friend Bernice...lol

Thanks for these, Judy!
