Here's another of the wonderful family pics from the Atlases...but first, see the littlest kid in the Mike and Louisa Sand pic? That was Frank, grandma's youngest sib, born the 17th of May 1896. Since they were aunt and uncle to dad, he of course knew this family, and we (my sibs and me) connected with them but didn't know it. Let me identify em first:
Frank C Sand and Catherine (Bednar) Sand, with Richard, left, and Francis, right. Back row: Rosalin, Arthur, Amelia, Ervin, Dolores, Wilfred and JoAnn. |
I guessed this pic was taken as early as 1960, but I think it was actually the 50th Wedding Anniversary, in 1967. When else did the whole family show up, all dressed nicely ☺ ? As for our childhood link with them--we didn't realize that Roselin Czech was dad's first cousin when we went to visit them near Mayhew Lake. Rose and Al's kids were roughly the same ages as we were, and there were lots of fun things to get into at their farm. Good memories!
And now, all these years later, I'm in contact with--thru HH--daughters of Dolores and Amelia..and JoAnn? (I just spent a half hour looking thru past emails to make sure I know who Carolyn is connected to here. Wait, she's Amelia's daughter ☺. Carolyn provided the who's who).
THANKS, CAROLYN!! That's her, fourth from the left ☺
The woman on the very far left is Anita Faye (Johnson) Daby. Her older sister, Jean Angeline Johnson Anderson Rehkamp is in the brown in front, next to her older sister Carolyn Johnson Shaffer. The woman on the far right is Debbie Johnson Nathe Schmitz, the youngest Johnson sister. The tall guy in the back is her husband, Harold Schmitz.
