Yay! Correspondence from Su--with a hope and challenge that it might still be around in 60 years.
Dear Marlys,
We popped out, as usual, this morning to get the bread from the village and encountered the Olympic torch procession passing through. I haven't seen this many people out and about since some vast new cider vats were moved through the village some years ago. People were on the roof of the Post Office/village stores and had tied themselves to the top of directions signs but I just snapped the torch-bearer as he went past, without need for gymnastics! He actually passed the end of Moat Lane itself! In case you are wondering if this might be an example of the flower of British athleticism I can assure you that the torch is carried by a vast rely of people who are great in that they are good; have served the community in some way or overcome very serious hardship or disability, the previous carrier was a wheelchair user. I don't think there is an equivalent of your local Journals but I wonder if this will survive to be published 60 years hence!
love Su
(Thanks Su--one of these days I'll actually answer you with a return email, but, oh, dear--don't hold your breath ☺)
