This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

You'll thank Larry and me next time you play "INCREDIBLY Trivial Pursuits", cuz here's an answer--or hell, use it as a question. It's guaranteed to befuddle most people, promise.
"When did electricity arrive in Pierz, Minnesota?"
Now you know!
BTW, another fun fact is that it took eight carloads of poles to string the wires from Little Falls to Pierz.
You're welcome, you're welcome...
Wow and my grandparents didn't get it until about 1948. My mom was an infant. Of course, the didn't live in town, they lived in Agram Township. ;)
