The latest post on the Morrison County Historical Society's website is Collections Carousel: Charles A. Lindbergh State Park Shelter and Bridge Postcards. If you're familiar with Little Falls, you'll remember that the MCHS and the Weyerhaeuser Museum sits across the road from the park and down the road from the Lindbergh home and museum. (The Google map below is a bit off--but it's close).
C.A.Lindbergh was a prominent lawyer in Little Falls, but was not mentioned in Fuller's History of Morrison and Todd Counties, Minnesota. (Hmm, another non-subscriber? ☺)
From this article in the Record (February, 2010):
" ...C.A. Lindbergh, father of aviator Charles Lindbergh, made a run for the Republican gubernatorial endorsement after serving 10 years in Congress from 1907 to 1917. However, after meeting with incumbent Republican Gov. J.A.A. Burnquist, who was seeking re-election, Lindbergh dropped out, throwing his support to Burnquist. Burnquist served as governor from 1915 to 1921".When I Googled Images of Chuck, this newspaper pic wasn't included, so here's a photo of Charles Augustus Lindbergh from the Pierz Journal. Cool, huh?
Oh, and one from later, I suppose as the prominent lawyer in town, but if the above photo was 1916, then he was a very young looking 57 when it was taken. Hmm, the collar and jacket are similar in both pics...but I think that's due more to "It's still a good jacket". C.A. looks a good 15 years younger, to me, in the newspaper photo. What do you think?
As self-appointed representative f the folically embarassed community I feel feel compelled to point out that the hairline is definitely "at a higher tide" than in the newsprint photo.
