This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

A Belle Prairie fund raiser, 1915 style

An account from 1915 about a fund raiser by the Knights of Columbus to benefit Our Lady of Angels Academy at Belle Prairie.  It's worth the read since it describes how something like that was done, then.  People who owned cars shuttled people out there from downtown Little Falls...sounds like a terrific success.

The article's particularly neat cuz Shari and I went to Belle Prairie's Holy Family Cemetery on Monday to take pics of gravestones.

We found most of the people who're mentioned, or their families, ya know?

I love that kind of symmetry ☺.
