This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

Are there any Rauch's left in Pierz?

It's so COOL what can be found on ebay.  This certificate is for sale there, by a seller in Utah.  Don't you wonder how it got to him?
Anyway, it was one share in the First State Bank of New Pierz (Genola), purchased by J.N.Rauch in 1922 for one hundred dollars.
The ad below the certificate was from 1916, so was it called Genola then New Pierz?  I think the bank was a victim of the Depression as many were.
Did JN get his money back? We don't know, but maybe some reader does.  It might be an interesting story!

By the way, hope all our readers have a wonderful, family filled Christmas!
