This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

Snowy Minnesota

Just because it's fun to whine about the snow this year, I took a few pics of the street out front.

  1. What a great idea to go to Bohemia in the winter. I thought the mountains there would be full of snow and the weather awful, but it looks delightful!

  2. Hi, Deborah--Actually, we were thinking "less tourists in Rome and Vienna and Prague", but it didn't turn out to be true at all. Lots of other people figured the same way, evidently....but yes, temps in the 50s and 60s was perfect. The trip really WAS delightful! ☺
