This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

One little letter different...

Grandmas' mother Louise Sand was a RAUSCH, pronounced Rau-ssh, but there's another family in the Pierz/Buckman area named RAUCH (the way Roger says it, it rhymes with Couch). I think dad used to say Rauk, remember? I never distinguished between the two names before talking to--hmm, my third cousin, Roger.
Wanna calculate for yourself? This is from Ancestry.com, and our 'common ancestor' was Johann. For Roger, it's Johann, Mathias, Valentine, and Edna; for me, it's Johann, Paul, Anton, and Mike--see? Third cousins!
Of course at least one Hesch married a Rauch...that would be Anna, daughter of Mathias Hesch, who married John A Rauch, the kid from across the road in Agram Township, west of Pierz.
These descendants, too, are invited to the reunion!
