This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

Ceskearchivy UPDATE!

Did YOUR ancestors come from Bohemia?

(FYI, Google does something called web-crawling, so that interesting topics will be picked up and indexed if someone searches for them. I added the by-line so other searchers would find this reference, ok?)

The State Regional Archives Trebon has been busy up-dating and improving the site. They're creating indexes of names in the church recordbooks as we speak, though so far, HESCH doesn't show up. (It seems like they're starting with the Czech villages, which is only right, and probably easier, too).

These books are the church record books from Bohemian villages and towns starting around 1650. At the time, Bohemia was 90% Roman Catholic, with about 36% ethnic German.

The Archives, as of today, have 610953 images (pages) of digitized church record--births, marriages and deaths.
They're providing a truly wonderful service for genealogists around the world.

Ok, try THIS!
