This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

Nelson Photo Studio, Little Falls

AMAZING what can be found online! This was the new studio built by Frank A. Nelson in Little Falls, Minnesota in the early 1900's. Between 1890 and 1929, he also opened branch studios at Royalton, Pierz, Aitkin, and Staples. The one photo we have of Paul Hesch was thanks to him, as well as the 1901 family portrait, and Grandma's First Communion photo, too.
BTW, if you want to see what Little Falls looked like back then, click LITTLE FALLS POSTCARDS.
Cool, huh?  But wait.....something added in November 2014:

See the largest building--across the street from the guy on the left--?  That was Nelson's studio
