This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.
It's made of copper, stands about 30" high...the various boxes fit in the tray at the top, and there's a shelf inside at the level of the bottom of the windows. It was intended to be portable as it has a handle on top and wheels underneath. Any ideas?
THANKS, Apple! I was thinking it might be some sort of serving cart, but nothing else occured to me. More info: it was in a cabin on some land my son and his wife bought--it might have been 'original' with the cabin, or might have come from a garage sale some former owner went to. It looks "1920s" to me, and MUST have had a specific purpose. Your suggestion broadens the possibilities in my head...even if you didn't find a match. Thanks for trying, and I'll keep looking :^) Marlys
Hi, Christian--that occurred to me too (some sort of food server) but it's really too small--it stands just above my knee. It might have been a salesman sample of something larger, tho. Thanks for the suggestion! Marlys
Just so ya know, the Save-the-PJ fund is larger than this, since the amount shown here is ONLY what's been raised online. Please donate whatever you can, tho, ok?
Thanks!
My initial guess was that it was part of a portable darkroom but after searching images I didn't find anything that came close. Good luck!
