This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

The Great Garage Dispute

At the Minnesota History Museum library last Saturday, Anon found a photo or two that he thought were taken inside the Chevrolet garage in Pierz.  This photo is the one I meant, tho, and there's no question this is Brandls.
(But then, I tend to think EVERY old pic we find is certainly Buckman until...argh...it's pointed out why I'm wrong...lol)

These guys are Hank Poster, John Brandl, Bill Gohl and Tony Sand.

See?  I think this is Brandl Motors, too.  When we saw the original photo at the MHS library, Anon tried to tell me this was a Chevy, so it had to be Nagles...lol  Thing is, he was in both garages as a kid, so he might possibly know what he's talking about.
(Actually, this guy looks a little like Anon! )
