This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

An incredible connection

Our world is truly amazing.  Probably 2 years ago, Larry found an online collection of WWII photos...(talking about it this morning, we seem to recall that it was online only temporarily in a bid to sell original photos)...and one was labeled, in German,  "Frau Hesch surveys the destruction..."  Both our memories are fuzzy on this tho.

Anyway, now, there's something called TINEYE, that will find other places online where your photo appeared.

Larry took this picture and ran it thru tineye, and found THESE results, the cover of a book available on Amazon.  (The first link there has to be where we first saw the photo).  WOW.

I would love to find that street again...was it Berlin?
