This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

Out of context, but definitely cool

I realize we all think of Larry as mostly a Hesch, but honest, he actually has ancestors of his own.  We've been researching his dad's mother's line a little this week (not that they need much research--he discovered most of this ages ago).  He was wondering about his 3rd great grandmother, who was born in Schuylkill Co, Pennsylvania in January 1808.  Let's see if I have this straight, ok?

Her name was Catherine Henry, and she married Tobias Billman in the 1820s.  They moved to Michigan before 1850.
<< This is Catherine and Tobias Billman in the 1850 census.

The family portrait below is their youngest daughter Lucy Ann Billman (b 1848) and her husband George Fishell, with their first five kids.   The photo doesn't include Alice who wasn't born yet when the pic was taken...so it was taken c. 1889.  (Alice was Larry's great grandmother, but she's not in either of these pics--sorry).
This large photo is the one I want to show you.  That's George and Lucy up on the porch.  The younger couple is (we think) their son William, his wife Rosabelle and two of their children.  Big George looks 55ish, but his grandson George (sitting on the steps) looks about 6, so this has to be 1913 or so.

I just really really like this pic ☺, don't you?
