This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

Various stuff ☺

April, !912--so grandma Hesch had a hired girl the summer
she was expecting dad!

Was the Bijou next to the Funhouse?
Look: Larry found that "Minnesotans Frank Faust and Tony Wolke" had a theater in Forsyth, Montana starting in 1922!  A brother to John, maybe?

Did Nick Mueller ever hear the end of this?  And was a bad year just expected once in awhile?  It makes me think of Colony Collapse Disorder these days.

Oh wow, here are the only pics I have of of Aunt Katie (Hesch) and Uncle Blaise Sufka--the wedding pic (c 1940?) says on the back "Mike Hesch, me, Katie and Blaise".  I'm pretty sure the "me" was Uncle Blaise's sister.
The later pic must have been their 25th wedding anniversary...from the atlas, of course.
