This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

Sr Theodore, OSB

Remember visiting The Little Flower Mission back in the 60s?  Sr Laura's long-time companion there was Sr Mary George, and another sister whose name I couldn't remember for years, until, ahhh, yes...Sr Theodore.

SR THEODORE is the person who wanted St Laura's body returned to St Joe.  Since Onamia, she's been housekeeping at St Wendelin's parish school in Luxemburg, Mn, south of St Cloud.  This photo and the accompanying article was published last month.  Sr. Theodore is retired at St Scholastica's now.
I need to go visit her, I think.

  1. I'm glad that Sr Theodore wasn't successful in having Sr. Laura buried at the convent in St. Joe. I went with my parents to Sr. Laura's burial at the cemetery at the Little Flower Mission and it seemed to me that is just where she belonged. I have many found memories of visiting Sr. Laura at the Little Flower Mission as a child.
