This branch of the Austrian Hesch family is descended from Johann Hesch and his wife Marya (Schlinz) Hesch, who came to America from Oberschlagles, Bohemia with three sons: Paul, Mathias, and Anton. +++Johann & Marya settled in Buffalo County, Wisconsin but moved to Pierz, Mn in about 1885. .+++Mathias settled in Waumandee, Wisconsin and moved to Pierz in 1911. +++Anton never married but farmed with his dad in Agram Township, where he died in 1911.+++And Paul, my great grandfather, settled five miles away, in Buckman, Minnesota. He died there in 1900.

Mueller Groceries, Drygoods and Drugs / Hardware and Glassware

(That's what it said on the windows).
WOW--here's an interior shot of the store, with everybody identified: on the left is John Mueller and his wife Mary, with their kids Roman and Tillie, and on the right is Peter Mueller with his kids Mathias and Irene.
Larry and I think this photo was taken on the same day as the Saloon interior pic--look:
See Mathias and Tillie in the store?  Looks like the same kids in the saloon, and Roman is with his daddy at the end of the bar.  Pete from the store is behind the bar now, and the man with the beer is--maybe just a customer?...lol

Ok, now heres something else about this family.  It's a bio** from the History of Morrison and Todd Counties, Minnesota (1915) :

Evidently, John was willing to pay for the bio even if Pete wasn't...lol

............................
It's interesting to keep the bio in mind while viewing this family photo, taken in 1893, twenty-two years earlier:
(Btw, that's Ket on the right)
According to the bio, Elizabeth died a year after this photo was taken, in 1894, at thirty-eight years old.
(MORE thanks to Bob Mueller!)  See below!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
**  Bob wrote to say that much of the info in that bio is just plain WRONG.  (Clara Fuller didn't worry too much about accuracy, I think). Here are the real facts:

1. John was born September 27, 1882 ( Bob has his death card)
2. Adams wife's name is Elizabeth Michels not Midiels. (per documents from Germany)
3. Elizabeth died March 13, 1893 (Bob has her death certificate) not 1894.
4. John came to America  28 August, 1884 ( Bob has the ships list).

John and Mary had 9 children:
1. Marie 1914
2. Roman 1915
3. John 1917
4. Florence 1919
5. Hildegard 1921
6. Mary 1923
7. Rosie 1925
8. Bertila 1926
9. Joseph 1931

The 8 (NOT 11) children born to Adam and Elizabeth are:
1. Peter 1877
2. Nicholas 1879
3. Catherine 1880
4. John 1882
5. Jacob 1884
6. Henry 1885

7. Agnes 1887
8. Anna 1892

If only we could go back and correct the book!  Thanks, again, Bob. (and more thanks to Anon).
